A plastic cover is removed, then 2
bolts are removed from the headlight lens. The wires are
disconnected and the bulb socket is removed.

This 1999 Pontiac
Sunfire headlamp assembly is easily accessible.
First, I removed the
upper plastic radiator cover.
The red arrows show the
six retainer clips that had to be removed.
Note: These are special bolts, as
shown with the red arrow.
Avoid touching the
new headlight bulb with your bare hands. Oil
from your skin can get on the glass and
cause the bulb to overheat and burn out.
Hold the new bulb with a tissue or piece of
To remove the bulb from the socket I
it straight out.
Then I removed the bulb by pulling
it straight out
of the socket.
