Start:

This 2000 Mercedes Benz door panel had four mounting screws (red arrows) to be removed and some wiring to be disconnected. The pull handle cover is difficult.

Caution: There are side air bags in the doors on this model. I disconnected the battery as a precaution.

Remove door lock button 2000 Mercedes C230

I removed the door lock button first. I turned the button counter clock-wise...

 

... and unscrewed the button.

When replacing the door panel I always line-up the lock button shaft and install the button a few turns. It can be difficult to line-up later after the panel put back on.

Remove door panel door latch cover Mercedes-Benz C230. Using a Phillips screwdriver I removed the mounting screw of the door latch cover.

Remove door pull handle cover 2000 Mercedes Benz C230 I found the pull handle cover to be very difficult to remove.

First: I pushed downward on the cover about two inches from the bottom and pressed my thumb in the center.

Second: I placed masking tape around the seam area and applied gentle prying pressure underneath the end of the cover, and it released.

 

I applied the same procedure to the top of the cover... I pushed it upwards and pried carefully against the yellow masking tape. Removal inside door panel handle cover 2000 Mercedes C230

With a Phillips screwdriver, I removed the top mounting screw from the inner pull handle. Remove upper door handle upper screw Mercedes C230.

 

Remove lower plastic door panel screw 2000 Mercedes C230. Then I removed the bottom screw.

 

There was a hidden screw under the "SRS air bag" button.

I removed the button with a tack puller, prying on the bottom and using a piece of masking tape to avoid damage to the leather on the door panel.

Remove inside door panel hidden screw 2000 Mercedes C230 Using a Phillips screwdriver I removed the screw behind the cover.

 

With a rigid putty knife I pried around the edge of the panel and released the snap clips. Release snap clip on plastic door panel 2002 Mercedes C230

The panel was still attached by wiring and the latch cable, giving me an 8 inch area to work in.

 

I pulled the wire connectors from the panel on the back side. I found them to have a very tight fit. Remove wire connectors from door panel 2000 Mercedes C230

 

Disconnecting door panel wire harness 2000 Mercedes C230 I had to pry some of the wire connector loose with a flat screwdriver, because of the tight fit.

 

Disconnecting The Door Release Cable:

I pulled back on the plastic part of the cable sleeve and pulled the cable down through its slot on the mounting bracket. Disconnect door latch cable 2000 Mercedes Benz C230

 

Remove inside door latch cable 2000 Mercedes C230 Then I maneuvered the hooked end of the inner cable upward and... 

 

...removed the cable hook from the plastic mounting clip.

At this point the door panel was separated from the car.

If I wanted to remove the side view mirror. I could disconnect the control wire and remove the plastic cover to expose the side view mirror mounting bolts.
